In his book Contemplative Youth Ministry, Mark Yacconelli states:

The stories of Scripture are windows into the nature of God and humanity and our relationships to one another. They are stories to help repent, heal, learn, grow and stretch towards God's love and wholeness... It (Scripture) helps us to name our experience and points us to deeper ways in which we can experience God's love and compassion for humanity.

The Bible is not a text book of facts and moral lessons to be learned. It is the living story of God's love for his world and humanity, and it draws us into relationship with God through his son Jesus Christ.  Children and young people need to hear Scripture, read Scripture and respond to Scripture to help them grow in their Christian faith.

These pages offer creative ideas to help bring the Bible to life so that children and young people can hear and respond to its message.
