Church of England

The safeguarding and protection of children and young people is everyone's responsibility - not just parents or those who have formal responsibilities for children and young people. Every church should have a safeguarding policy in place, with a co-ordinator who works with the church leaders to ensure that the policy and procedutes are implemented.

In November 2010 the House of Bishops published the 4th edition of Protecting All God's Children which is the policy document for safeguarding children and young people in the Church of England. A copy can be downloaded from the link on the right.

The current Safer Recruitment Guidelines are available as a downloadable document.

In July 2011, Responding Well was published by the House of Bishops, a policy and good practice document to help churches respond as positively and constructively as possible to anyone who has suffered abuse.
